Cardiovascular failure affects around 2% of the adult population around the world (i.e. 100 million people), however heart transplantation is available for less than 5000 patients every year. In this context, cardiac regenerative medicine is a promissing discipline.
The TACTICS mission is to critically analyze the achievements obtained in cardiac regenerative medicine, assess the scientific value of the field and to plan basic, translational and clinical research for the next decade.
These actions will ease the translation from research to the general population, will reduce the uncertainty and scepticism and will prevent controversial and confusing results from preclinical and clinical research.
